DVD's won't play, WMA says a problem with outdated Drivers but thats not the problem

DVD's won't play, WMA says a problem with outdated Drivers but thats not the problem?
I just got an old laptop (Dell Latitude D600) and with one DVD it ran fine but there was no sound. With another it wouldn't run because Windows media player said that there was a copy protection problem between the DVD player a graphics driver. It suggests upgrading the graphics card drivers Radean mobility 9000, but it has the latest drivers. Windows media player is the latest version (11) and I have tried on Winamp as well (latest version) to no avail. The DVD is from HongKong (I live in Australia) but it was bought from HMV so its a legitimate copy

Battery life for Macbook Pro

Battery life for Macbook Pro.?
I bought a Macbook pro at the beginning of this month in Hongkong. The Apple company claimed the battery life is as long as 10 hours, but I didn't charge the battery completely at the first time due to some emergency. Then every time I use the laptop, I keep it plug in. Will the battery life be shorten because of the incomplete charge at the first time?

Only slightly. The Battery will "repair" itself eventually if you only do long, deep charges like Apple (or any other laptop maker) would suggest. To increase battery life do not use the included Safari browser. Use Chrome or Firefox with Ad-block instead - this can make a pretty big difference

the license will work with the same version of the OS, and then, after it's installed, you can run the WGA check from MS's website

Vista too slow

Vista too slow?

Vista runs slowly because you don't have a lot of RAM.
2 :
truly, thats not enough memory to run Vista, its a BEAST, no joke, 1gig of memory is the least i'd use with vista.
3 :
Add more RAM. Vista Basic requires 512mb RAM. This is pretty much eating up all your RAM. If you have Vista Premium or Ultimate, it requires 1gb RAM. I would boost up your RAM to 2gb either way.
4 :
Vista is a memory hog. You need more RAM. Also, it allocates more memory from video than any OS to date. If your system has anything less than 256-512mb video memory, the OS will be taking even more system memory to make up for the loss. All in all, get AT LEAST, another 512MB ram, and you'll be much happier. Or even better, downgrade to XP until they get all the kinks in vista worked out with Sevice Pack 1 in december. Sorry to break the bad news.

I have a similar model and i added 2 Gigs of ram which should run you about 150 on Ebay. No my machine is super fast. Adding the ram is very easy and take about 5 min and a small screw driver

You don't have enough memory. You should have at least 1GB and 2GB would be even better. That's Microsoft coding for you. Or you could just run Ubuntu. It'll run fine with your specs. Ubuntu anyone? http://www.ubuntu.com

xp is your only option. vista is not slow.. it can't be its not hardware. its a software. the software vista requires a fast set of hardware setups to run. basic rules are Ram. you need to have 1gig if basic and 2gig if anything else.. 3 if ultimate. (you can purchase up to 2 for yours) 128mb of dedicated Video. (which you dont have) and a fast processor. your processor doesnt make any sence to me. Dual Core 1.7??? but anyway that will work with XP better
