Is it troublesome to bring my laptop to HongKong?
So yeah, im originally going to Philippines but i have a stop over @ HK for 4 hours and im going to stay in HK for 4 days at least before going home here. My dad & mom thinks that its quite troublesome to bring my laptop since they heard that HK is very strict with their policies. They think that it will take more time.. when i bring it. Like, ill remove the batteries and put it again.. then will pass another x-ray machine so i need to do the same procedure again. So, i dunno how it really is. 'cause its my 1st time travelling with it, so please give me right infos. :)

Hi. I travel to main land China every year and have no bother with my lap top. In fact I have more trouble returning to England with the security. You would think that main land China would be more strict than Hong Kong. I think you will have no trouble.

I travel to Hong Kong and China quite a bit with my laptop. I make 1 or 2 trips a year and it is not problem whatsoever to bring in a laptop as long as you are going to be bringing it out. There are no onerous forms or special lines to walk through either.

HK is no China. no worry abt it kid! we bringing our laptop on business trip all the time. never heard of the customs wil ask u to what takeout the battery & x-ray. all digicam, laptop, mobile phone can thru the x-ray machine safely n fast. n we hv free wifi all over main spots.... provided by the HK government

dont bother. dells and hps are from hong kong. all the parts are shipped at factory prices. just get one online

Hong Kong is cheaper. Laptops, and other imported electronics in Thailand are subject to high taxes and can be very expensive. I live in Thailand and the last two times I've bought laptops, I've had friends buy them for me in the US and bring them to Thailand when they came to visit. I saved over $700 US on the last one I bought compared to the price in Thailand. Hong Kong is a duty free port and you'll save a bundle there compared to buying one in Thailand.

LAPTOPS are certainly cheaper in Bangkok than in Hongkong. There are two main places to buy Laptops in Bangkok, Panthip Plaza and MBK Mall. You will find prices cheaper by 25 -30% than in Hongkong. GOOD LUCK
